DCFC TRANSFER NEWS – Last season’s Bristol City trio that could be coming to Pride Park this summer

Bristol City defenders Aden Flint and Joe Bryan, and Chelsea’s young striker, Tammy Abraham, who was on loan at Bristol last season are all potential transfer targets for Gary Rowett in the upcoming transfer window.

Former Alfreton Town centre back, Aden Flint is one of many defenders to be linked with Derby after a disappointing season in which they finished ninth, a very disappointing finish for the club, who were predicted to be battling for the play-offs at the start of the season.

Sky Sports pundit Tony Gale has said that is ‘time for a clear out’ at Derby County Football Club. He adds, ‘Gary Rowett, for me, has got good players but players who are underachieving’.

This is a statement that I personally completely agree with and it is uplifting to see the club being linked with many players in the past few weeks, which surely shows that there is some movement happening behind the scenes, in terms of transfers.

27 year old, Flint has been linked with Derby as well as Premier League clubs West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion. Another club interested in Flint’s services is Aston Villa. Flint is valued at £5 million but Derby have said they will match any offer that Villa put forward for the Derbyshire-born man, who has impressed for Bristol City and helped them avoid relegation last season.

Another Bristol City player linked with Derby is £2.5 million rated left back Joe Bryan. The young full back, who has also been linked with recently relegated Sunderland, is under contract with Bristol City until 2019 and is also unlikely to make the switch to Derby unless Gary Rowett makes the decision to offload one or two full backs as Derby already have Marcus Olsson, Max Lowe, Craig Forsyth, who is expected to return from a long term injury before the start of next season, and Ikechi Anya, who can operate as a full back, on their books, who all can play at left back.

The final Bristol City player linked with a move to Derby this summer is 19 year old striker Tammy Abraham. Abraham, who scored 26 goals for Bristol City in the 16/17 season, is currently a Chelsea player, and spent last season on loan with Bristol City, which turned out to be a successful spell for the young striker. When asked about the prospect of loan signings, Rowett pointed out Abraham as well as Chelsea defender, Tomas Kalas, who spent last season on loan with Fulham, as the right calibre of player he would consider signing on loan. A move for Abraham is however unlikely because, as well as the prospect of Premier League champions, Chelsea wanting to hold onto the talented youngster there is a lot of interest from elsewhere in the Premier League with the likes of Arsenal and Everton sniffing around, as well as the possibility that Abraham makes his Bristol City loan move a permanent switch. According to the Daily Mail, Everton are also looking into an offer with Chelsea to use Abraham as leverage in a deal which would see Everton striker Romelu Lukaku join Chelsea, and Abraham and a significant sum of money go to Everton, as Chelsea are not willing to pay the supposed asking price that Everton have slapped on Lukaku, which is around £100 million.
